“Happiness held is the seed; Happiness shared is the flower.”
I've always been the first to welcome in spring with a vase of bursting tulips on the counter or spot a grouping of wildflowers popped up by the roadside - but I never truly considered growing flowers of my own (which is honestly a bit wild given I grew up on a farm myself)!
Fast forward to a winter day in 2021, I stumbled across the Growing Kindness Project - and jumped in without hesitation. I spent the summer of 2022 in a garden overflowing with dahlias, cosmos, zinnias and other cut flowers. With kiddos at my feet, these blooms were gathered into bouquets and delivered to a local oncology clinic (the same in which I was treated and cared for in 2014), to spread joy and light to those in a season of need.
What started with an impromptu spark and a bit of an impulsive dive into the flower gardening world has turned into a dream with a life of its own. A dream to spend more days with my hands in the dirt, growing alongside my little family, and sharing flowers with community and beautiful people like you.
catching the sunrise over the lake - cup of coffee in hand, a stack of fresh books, a cold blue moon by a crackling campfire, the smell of fresh baked bread, all the simple joys, and being a momma to Addy, Mathew, and little elsie.
Adelyn is my flower-growing, caterpillar-finding, garden-hose playing, popsicle-loving counterpart. She's the first to spot a new dahlia bud and offer up her watering services. Her toddling brother, Mathew, can be found driving dumptrucks and tractors along the garden's edge and picking green tomatoes off the vine.
